Eurasian finds more gold in KyrgyzstanMonday, 27th February 2006 (3114 views) Exploration outfit Eurasian Minerals has discovered more gold at its Koisu prospect in the former Soviet republic of Kyrgyzstan. Its 2005 Kemin field programme has unearthed a new zone of gold-copper mineralization on the property, hosted in hydrothermal breccias. Measured over an eight-metre interval, the surrounding volcanic rocks returned results of up to 7.3 parts per million gold, as well as 0.17 per cent copper. The 528-square metre Kemin property is located on a regional fault zone in the gold-rich Northern Tien Shan region. The site was explored in the 1960s when several gold occurrences were identified. Eurasian Minerals claims to be one of the largest exploration landholders in the country. It also owns epithermal gold and porphyry copper-gold properties in Turkey and has interests in Serbia where it claims it is the first foreign company to be granted a metals exploration permit in 60 years.
