Stunning Tennessee Williams volume produced

Friday, 24th March 2006 (4039 views)

Bookbinding and printing company Librix Continuum is to release a three-play collectors' edition of Tennessee Williams' work.

The edition – entitled 'Tennessee' - is limited to a run of only 1,500 copies and has been hand gold-tooled in 23-carat gold. It will be presented to The Tennessee Williams/New Orleans Literary Festival's 20th anniversary on April 1st.

'Tennessee' is seen as Librix's masterpiece and features letterpress printed in four colours in Florence, as well as rare Florentine book calf binding.

It will contain classic plays The Glass Menagerie and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, together with Williams' recently discovered play These are the Stairs You Got to Watch. The latter has never been published before.

The work was a collaboration between artists in Washington, DC and Florence. It took editors, artists, printers, paper makers and leather crafters thousands of hours to create.

Librix Continuum was founded by David Bruce Smith and aims "to advance the book arts as a vital contemporary art form".
