Tuesday, 28th March 2006 (6231 views) Jewelller Tiffany's threw a launch party for its new collection designed by world-famous architect Frank Gehry on Sunday night. And the great and the good were there to snap up the designs, which were created from a range of materials including black gold and cocholong stone, along with diamonds and other gems. One outstanding piece is a stunning white gold mesh collar with a scattering of diamonds and pearls, the LA Times reports. "They just brought me a bunch of silver mesh one day and a cup of rough-cut diamonds and I just went 'plop'", said Gehry, explaining its genesis. "I asked if we could throw some pearls in and they did." Gehry explained that he worked closely with Tiffany's designers on the new collection. "It's been a real collaboration," he said. "That's what I look for in people I work with. It's like jazz: you blow a few notes and the guy next to you takes it. That's what we are talking about." Celebrities at the launch included Owen Wilson, Anjelica Huston and William H Macy.
