First Malaysian boutique for OrisTuesday, 28th March 2006 (4608 views) Swiss brand Oris has opened its first watch boutique in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur. The company specialises in handmade mechanical watches that typically cost between £300 and £1,200, although it plans to stock some top-of-the-range gold timepieces that may cost over £3,500. Despite trading in Malaysia for 50 years, the boutique is the first retail space set up by LuxuryConcepts Watches and Jewellery, Oris' operating company in the Asian country, for the sole purpose of selling its own items. Frank Low, chief executive of LuxuryConcepts, described the boutique as a "showcase" primarily established to promote "the brand image and its history to the public". "Our target clients are young, up-and-coming executives and, of course, people who appreciate good mechanical watches and watch collectors," he said, in response to questions about where they hoped to fit in to Malaysia's established market. Oris has been the official team sponsor of WilliamsF1 since 2003 and recently re-signed a contract with the team. The Swiss watchmaker continues to produce a specialist line of timepieces in association with the Formula1 outfit, with straps in gold, silver, stainless steel, and tyre-imitation rubber.
