Alto uncovers gold deposits in Quebec

Wednesday, 29th March 2006 (3131 views)

Hidefield Gold has announced that Alto Ventures, one of its Canadian affiliates, has discovered a new gold zone in Quebec.

The Darla zone, part of a larger discoveries project at the Despinassy Shear, is 50 miles north of Val D'Or and today's announcement suggests there is potential for additional gold deposits to be unearthed.

In one drill hole, high-grade mineralisation of gold was intercepted at up to 19.5 grammes per tonne over 2.1 metres in area two of the zone and represents the most promising finding of Alto's 5,000-metre winter drilling programme to date.

"The discovery of the Darla zone mineralisation is very encouraging of the potential for discovery of new near-surface deposits and the need for further drilling," the company said.

The majority of Hidefield's interests are to be found in North and South America, although the company itself is London-based.

It holds a varied portfolio of gold projects with its South American interests generally directly controlled, although ventures in the USA and Canada tend to be held by independent, self-funded associate companies or partly owned subsidiaries.
