Minerals company Antares has announced the start of a 5,000-metre drilling program at Argentina's Rio Grande porphyry copper-gold project.

Between 15 and 20 drill holes will be dug and attention will be focused on the near-surface copper-gold mineralisation in the Discovery and Sofia zones, as well as deeper drilling to search for a large porphyry copper-gold system.

Antares' president and chief executive, John Black, commented: "We are excited to begin drilling again at the Rio Grande porphyry copper-gold project." He noted that the project would be aggressively pushed forward and "build upon the encouraging drill results we obtained last year from the Sofia and Discovery zones".

Antares is a minerals exploration company focused on metals exploration properties in Latin America that can be quickly developed. The firm's most advanced project is the Haquira copper project in Peru.
