Proof buried, goes out in styleThe news feeds on this site are independently provided by Adfero Limited © and do not represent the views or opinions of the World Gold Council. Friday, 21st April 2006 (5608 views) Detroit rapper Proof was buried this week after he was fatally shot at a club in his hometown. The ceremony took place at the Fellowship Church on the west side of the Motor City, with tributes to the star, who was laid to rest in a 24-carat gold-plated coffin, being led by fellow Detroit rap star Eminem. In a symbol of his outlandish nature, the deceased's coffin was decorated in the precious metal and engraved with his real name, Deshaun Holton, as well as his rap name, Proof. Also in attendance at the ceremony were D12 bandmates Obie Trice, Yung Buck and Xzibit, along with "Get Rich or Die Tryin" star 50 Cent. Eminem said of Proof: "He taught me how to be a leader. I'm sure everybody who has ever met him, even just once, can testify to the fact that he illuminated a room when he walked in it." "I believe that Proof loved people and people loved him. He was a magnet. He lured you in. You wanted to learn about him, follow his swagger. Without Proof there would be no Eminem, no Slim Shady, no D12," his friend concluded. Bomb threats were received before the service went ahead, yet nothing was found by the police and sniffer dogs on hand to search the cars and grounds around the burial site.
