As well as engraving tools, the display will include gold bars and historic coins. An outstanding example of the rare gold 'California Horseman' coin, described as "one of the most beautiful coins ever made," will be on show to the public for the first time. The coin was made in San Francisco in 1850 and bears a design of a rider and lasso. Other rare coins that are tipped to be on show include a 1915 commemorative coin made for the Panama-Pacific Exposition, the only octagonal gold coin to become legal tender in US history, and the finest mint condition sets of Eisenhower dollars from the 1970s. Visitors will be able to obtain informal appraisals for pieces of jewellery, antiques and currency, and attend a series of free seminars presented by experts.
