Jewellery expo in Russia

Friday, 19th May 2006 (3886 views)

Jewellery from the Green Vault Dresden Museum is set to go on display at the Patriarshy Palace, at the Kremlin, Moscow.

The collection comprises 40 pieces – all of them unique.

The exhibition is a display of thank you to the Russian people for saving the treasures, which may otherwise have been destroyed, from the Dresden museum in 1945.

Gold pieces will be included in the displays, which will be available for viewing outside of Germany for the last time as the collection is set to be permanently housed in Dresden, according to the director of the Green Vault Museum.

The collection was initially owned by August the Strong, king of Poland, who was a friend of Peter the Great.
