Apogee reports high-grade gold findings

Wednesday, 24th May 2006 (3060 views)

Exploration company Apogee Minerals has announced the results of its latest drilling programme, which showed positive levels of high-grade gold, silver and zinc.

The exploratory drilling was conducted at the company's project near the La Solucion Mine, which is situated on the Hampaturi Vein in Bolivia.

Results yielded 1.35 grams per tonne of gold, 606 grams per tonne of silver and a 28.7 per cent presence of zinc in the area.

"The identification of significantly anomalous mineralization on the principal vein structure at Mina Porfia and Mina Antimonia is positive," said Apogee vice president for exploration, Doug Currie.

"[It] continues to encourage the company's views on the potential and prospectivity of the vein systems at the La Solucion project," he added.

Mr Currie confirmed that Apogee intended to follow up these successive results with a diamond drilling programme in the region soon.
