Ramelius gold output beats expectations

Tuesday, 20th June 2006 (2412 views)

Ramelius Resources has revealed that a trial sample of ore from a new site in Australia has delivered three times the amount of gold expected.

Investigations into Western Australia's Wattle Dam gold mine have uncovered not only this high output, but also grades reaching 1,253 grams per tonne gold at the site.

Managing director of the company Joe Houldsworth said: "Clearly, there is a substantial overcall in the grade of this material which was mainly derived from the uppermost flitches of Wattle Dam's open pit.

"The spectacular grades being progressively encountered in the deeper flitches are encouraging, but whether a similar overcall may apply to these ore parcels has yet to be determined."

Ramelius has been mining at the site since March and had extracted around 15,000 tonnes of ore by the end of last month.
