Kaminak announces project commencements

Thursday, 22nd June 2006 (2425 views)

Two projects in Nunavut, Canada, run by Kaminak Gold have commenced drilling, according to an announcement from the company.

The Matrix Gold project is being undertaken by a partner of Kumanik, Newmont Canada, and will drill a total of 1,200 metres to investigate gold occurrences in quartz-pebble rocks.

Another partner, Pacific Ridge Exploration, has begun work on a $1.6 million project to investigate a 500,000-acre site at Baker Lake, with a 20-hole drill plan set for the end of the summer.

President and chief executive of Kaminak Rob Carpenter said: "These two property agreements are examples of how our joint-venture philosophy exposes the Kaminak shareholder to multiple opportunities for discovery and brings the added technical expertise and funds from our partners to advance these projects on Kaminak's behalf."

Kaminak was created after the merger of Hunter Exploration Group and Shear Minerals and is focused upon identifying large ore bodies within Canada.
