Boddington mine lodges engineering order

Monday, 26th June 2006 (2477 views)

AngloGold Ashanti and Newmont Mining's joint project in Western Australia, the Boddington Gold Mine (BGM), has placed a large order for equipment to be installed.

Metso Minerals, a Finnish engineering group, has announced the order from BGM, reportedly worth around €50 million.

The delivery, which includes four ball mills and five large mining cone crushers, is expected to take place towards the end of next year.

It is part of the BGM processing plant expansion project, which aims to take advantage of the deposits of hard gold and copper ore that reside beneath Boddington's depleted oxide pits.

Newmont is the world's second-largest gold mining company, employing around 28,000 people at mining projects worldwide. The Boddington venture, pursued in conjunction with another of the world's leading mining companies in AngloGold Ashanti, is one of the largest projects in both companies' portfolios.
