Vista completes initial drilling analysisTuesday, 27th June 2006 (2440 views) Vista Gold has announced the completion of a mineral resource analysis for the Batman deposit at the Mt Todd gold mine in Australia. Some 91,225 assay intervals from 730 core, reverse circulation and rotary drill holes were included in the calculations, which involved standard industry software and procedures. Reporting inferred resources of 1,503,194 contained gold ounces at a cutoff grade of 0.015 ounces per ton, Mike Richings, president of Vista, said the estimation was the "first step in getting Mt Todd ready to go back into production". "The environmental study and the scoping economic study should provide us with information about the price of gold necessary to make Mt Todd an economic success and to eventually close the mine in an environmentally acceptable manner," he explained. Mr Richings also said the company had managed to make changes to the ore processing method to overcome technical problems experienced by previous explorers at the mine. Most of the gold mineralisation at the 5,000-ft long Batman deposit is located in sheeting veins, 0.4-inches thick on average. Drill house spacing averages 160x160-ft. US-based Vista's other international projects include Indonesia's Awak Mas deposit, where a core drilling programme is now underway, and Paredones Amarillos in Mexico, where new environmental permits are being prepared to pave the way for production in the future.
