Thursday, 29th June 2006 (3645 views) A limited edition Patron of Art Writing Implement, which is designed with an 18-carat gold nib, has been unveiled by Montblanc in homage to Sir Henry Tate.The pen, of which only nine will be produced, was made public at the 14th annual Montblanc de la Culture Award ceremony at New York's Lincoln Center yesterday (Wednesday, 28 June). It has been designed in memory of Sir Henry, the British sugar trader, art patron and founder of the famous London art galleries that bear his name, with neo-classical architecture features indicative of the Tate Britain museum. Featuring red lacquer inlays, in guilloche work, on the cap and main body of the pen, the gold nib is also plated in platinum. Rebecca Neuwirth, the founder of 'High 5' a company that offers tickets to dance, music, theatre and fine arts displays to children in the US for $5 will be the first recipient of one of the specially sanctioned writing implements.
