Tanishq to expand to US

Friday, 30th June 2006 (4307 views)

Jewellery retailer Tanishq has announced that it has its sights set on the US market and plans to expand there over the next six months.

The company will establish two outlets in the country in a bid to introduce the brand and raise its profile as well as extending the firm's international presence.

Finer details of the move, such as whether the stores would be operated as franchises, have not yet been finalised.

It is thought that the company's gold and platinum jewellery products will continue to be manufactured in India.

Chief operating officer at Tanishq CK Venkatraman told the Business Standard Online: "We already have exports to countries in west Asia, which contribute five per cent to our total sales.

"We will be looking at catering to the Indian population in the US and the American mainstream jewellery space through these stores."

Established in 1995, Tanishq is the jewellery division of Titan Industries and currently has 80 retail outlets in India.
