Seabridge has commenced a new drilling effort at its Kerr-Sulphurets project in British Columbia, with the intention of expanding its gold resource there.

The 7,500-metre core drill programme is now underway, with two rigs expected to be in operation there by the end of the week, as Seabridge plans to drill seven holes to test for strike extensions as well as deeper mineralisation.

The Sulpherets deposit has been traditionally estimated as having a resource area measuring 1,000 metres by 200 meters in area, as well as extending 200 metres downwards and with gold found in quartz veins in and around a low-angle fault.

In addition, Seabridge also hopes to commence exploration of the highly promising Mitchell resource, which is estimated to measure 1,500 by 500 metres in area and which showed a result of 0.7 grams of gold per tonne in provisional drilling carried out last year.

This year's drill project will be carried out by Falconbridge, which has been working on the deposit for three years now and will drill a total of 19 holes in a bid to find a reportable resource.
