New Dimension completes Peru first stageThursday, 27th July 2006 (2433 views) New Dimension Resources has completed the initial phase of trenching over its project in the high jungles of south central Peru.No known modern exploration has been carried out on the 1800 hectare Chillimayo structure, although on its first visit the company took 15 samples, several of which returned high gold values. The latest phase of exploration included 20 trenches, which were constructed across the west-central part of the property over a strike length of 1,700 metres. A total of 129 samples were taken from the trenches. The parts of the structure from which samples were obtained contained Ordovician meta-sediments and felsic intrusives hosting quartz veining. Quartz veining stretches over multiple generations in the sampled area. The wider quartz veins, which often have shallow dip angles in the main structure, contain epithermal textures. The whole structure has not been covered in this initial phase of sampling. Previous prospecting by a local company has already shown that it extends one kilometre westwards. Traces of it have also been detected in an outcrop 500 metres to the east. The company plans to conduct a similar trenching programme over these areas in the coming months. Analysis of the existing samples will be carried out by ALS Chemex in Lima, with the results expected in August.
