Development work at Centerra Gold's Kumtor Mine has continued, seeing the completion of a further five drill holes.

The holes, all at the south end of the pit, finished drilling in the second quarter of 2006. One hole was designed to explore up dip extensions of the south and north zones at shallow elevations, while the rest were installed to check the dip and strike extensions of the SB zone.

All the holes drilled in the SB zone came across significant mineralisation. Intercepts ranged from 5.95 to 30.97 grams per tonne of gold (g/t Au) over down-hole core lengths that were between 20.8 to 35.9 metres deep.

The company is also developing drilling plans for its site at Gutsuurt in Mongolia. After the completion of initial surveys, trenching at the Mongolian project revealed a gold bearing alteration along a strike length of 400 metres. Assays were up to 91g/t Au over 2.2 metres, 35g/t Au over 2 metre and 16g/t over 2.2 metres.

Two drill holes have also produced significant results at the company's REN project in Nevada, USA. Drilling at one site gave assays of 21.7g/t Au over 4.6 metres and 10.2g/t over 12 metres. Additional work is planned to confirm the extent of this mineralisation.

Results of 28.5g/t Au over 19.8 from an altered zone of multiple laprophyre dikes within decarbonatised Rodeo Creek and Popovich Formation lithologies were recorded at the second hole.
