Konigsberg starts exploration in Mexico

Monday, 21st August 2006 (2304 views)

Konigsberg has announced that their 2006 exploration project has started in Mexico.

The Yoquivo project, located in Chihuahua state, is a joint-venture with Sydney Resources. It is located 210 kilometres south-west of Chihuahua city in the municipality of Ocampo and covers an area of 2,500 hectares.

Gold and silver mining has been going on in the Yoquivo district for over 140 years. Between 1908 and 1926, 728,000 grams of gold were produced from siliceous veins found in the San Francisco vein. During this peak production period, average grade returns were cited as being 10.9 grams per tonne of gold (g/t Au) and 1120 g/t silver.

A number of chip samples have already been taken from the current site and these have returned excellent results. These include assays of 77.1 g/t Au and 217.53 g/t Au.

Konigsberg's president Adam Cegielski said: "With substantial previous production on the property and bonanza grades reported of over 200 g/t gold and 19,800 g/t silver, management is excited to have moved to the exploration stage on the Yoquivo Au-Ag Project.

"We are not only encouraged about the historical grades but are thrilled about the exploration and production of this region."
