GBS Gold announce plant commissioningWednesday, 23rd August 2006 (2329 views) GBS Gold has announced that it has started commissioning a new plant in Australia. The dual-mill 2.5 million tonnes per annum Union Reefs CIL gold plant will be established in the Northern Territory. Gold ore from stockpiles and tailings sands is currently being processed by the plant in the milling and crushing circuits. During the coming weeks, the company hopes to establish gold processing inventories. The first stage of mining will involve the processing of ore from the Fountain Head and Rising Tide deposits, with the first round of ore expected to be ready at the plant by mid September. High-grade deposits have also been discovered at the Brocks Creek underground mine and this is set to be delivered to the new mill by the end of September, with set to begin at the site very soon. By 2008, GBS hopes to see production reach 250,000 ounces of gold per year. It currently is set to reach 150,000 by the middle of next year. GBS expects forecasted targets to be reached through increased mining and treatment of refractory ores.
