Grande Portage reports high grade mineral reserves

Tuesday, 29th August 2006 (2453 views)

Canadian gold mining company Grande Portage has announced the results of its assay tests at its Merry Widow open pit mine in British Columbia.

The tests showed high grade gold results, up to 95.2 grams per tonne of gold over 1.01 metres, contained within long sulphide intersections at the site.

The new discoveries backed up previous discoveries at the Canadian property dating back to 1989/90, when a diamond drilling programme showed important gold deposits, although no extraction was ever undertaken at the prospective mine site.

Important and significant deposits of copper, silver, and cobalt were also discovered at the Merry Widow property.

Further investigation is set for the next few days and reports of the findings of these next four drill holes are expected before the end of the week, the company said.
