Scorpio returns gold findings

Wednesday, 30th August 2006 (2633 views)

Scorpio Mining has returned results from a newly discovered zone.

The Hoag zone is a large mineralised body that is situated adjacent to the main Nuestra Senora deposit and only 20 metres from the main decline ramp. Nuestra Senora is located near Cosala in Sinaloa state, Mexico.

The company drilled 30 holes in the deposit, all of which successfully intersected the main mineralisation. The deposit is still open at depth. Scorpio is awaiting assay results from an additional eight holes.

Results included significant assays returning gold, silver, copper, zinc and lead, increasing with depth.
Scorpio's president Peter Hawley commented: "It is apparent that metal grades within the Hoag zone are beginning to increase at depth and the style of mineralisation is becoming more similar to that within the adjacent Nuestra Senora deposit.

"The Hoag zone does not outcrop at surface, but is situated between the Nuestra Senora deposit and the Santo Domingo and Santa Teresa deposits, all of which have surface expressions. We believe there is excellent potential to find other such 'blind' [unexposed] deposits within the immediate area."
