Wednesday, 30th August 2006 (3379 views) Keegan Resources has returned significant results from its property in Africa. The Esaase Gold property is located in south-west Ghana. The company is undertaking sampling work there and the first round of assays have been returned from trenches. Results included 4.26 grams per tonne of gold (g/t Au) over 20 metres, 4.74 g/t Au over 15 metres and 1.34 g/t Au over 35 metres spread between two different trenches. An anomaly was reported in an earlier press release from the company and its definitions have now been extended over a 350 metre strike length. In addition, high grade quartz veins have also been found in outcrops and these have returned samples of up to 127 g/t Au. Keegan reports that the area over which high grade gold has been sampled now reaches 1.4 kilometres in length. High grade gold is defined as 5 g/t Au and over. Keegan's president and chief executive said: "We are very excited and pleased to see the widths over which we are getting consistent gold grades. It suggests that a significant bulk mineable drill target may exist. The high grades that we are seeing are also quite encouraging. We have additional trench samples in the assay lab and the trench program is refining the numerous drill targets we will test in the fall."
