New Gold announces resource estimate for gold-copper mineThursday, 21st September 2006 (2349 views) New Gold has announced that it has released results from a resource estimate and a mining methods study for its site in Canada. The New Afton project is located ten kilometres to the west of Kamloops in British Columbia. An independent resource estimate, compliant with national instrument 430191, has been completed and is integral to an ongoing feasibility study being undertaken at the mine. The new estimation replaces one completed in 2004 and will be incorporated into a reserve calculation. Caving techniques were identified by the mining method study as being the most efficient way of bringing mineralisation into production. These techniques include block caving and sub-level caving. The company's president Chris Bradbrook commented: "Releasing the new resource is another important milestone for New Gold and the New Afton Project, as it provides us with a greater level of confidence in the mineralisation, resulting from the underground exploration work which was completed in 2005."
