Jewels of India to begin in BangaloreFriday, 29th September 2006 (4114 views) The eighth Jewels of India exhibition will open at the Sri Kanteerva Indoor Stadium in Bangalore tomorrow (Saturday, September 30th).As many as 20 jewellers and other organisations involved in the gold and precious metals jewellery market will be present at the event, where buyers and retailers can go to view the wares on offer this season. The exhibition runs until October 3rd and will feature modern and traditional pieces from across India, including Delhi and Mumbai jewellers and also a variety of Italian-crafted items. Jewels of India's brand ambassador and actor Shobana said that jewellery, particularly gold, was an important Indian tradition which should be kept alive through events like this. "I chose to be the brand ambassador for the event because Indian tradition is deep-rooted in me and this event represents all of India and its rich tradition in jewellery," she told The Hindu newspaper. When asked about her own particular tastes, Ms Shobana said: "I prefer traditional jewellery but it depends on the occasion and the mood. I have a designing eye and I like to wear anything that is pretty and suits me."
