A pair of miners, who were trapped in a Tasmanian gold mine for two weeks in April this year, have finally spoken about their ordeal.

Todd Russell and Brant Webb found themselves interned after a rock fall occurred while they were both 925 metres underground in the Beaconsfield mine. Their workmate Larry Knight was killed by debris.

In their book Bad Ground: Inside the Beaconsfield Mine Rescue, penned by journalist Tony Wright, the pair of ex-captives tell of their mental and physical stress during the ordeal.

"We'd have gone off our heads by now without their support," said Mr Russell in regards to the community which supported their families during the two-week nightmare.

A percentage of profits from book sales will be given to the Russell Webb Foundation which pays back the help and kindness of the community.

Mr Russell also spoke of the glare of media attention which followed them upon their rescue. It was like "being in the fast lane of a highway" he said.

Mr Webb told reporters that he often dreams that he is still trapped inside the cramped work cage which saved his life.

The Beaconsfield mine contains highly graded gold-bearing quartz.
