Turkey is popular this Christmas…for its goldThe news feeds on this site are independently provided by Adfero Limited © and do not represent the views or opinions of the World Gold Council. Tuesday, 21st November 2006 (3033 views) Stratex International, the international exploration and development company primarily based in Turkey, are expecting their initial resource by April next year. The company's Inlice gold project has seen drilling of late which endorses the potential for the Ana Zone area which Inlice is located in. An independent consultant has lauded the Konya belt where Inlice is as similar to the Maricunga belt in Chile where there are rumoured to be around 40 million ounces of gold. Capacity for drilling is due to be expanded over the next half a year in order to explore additional targets. Two rigs will thus be used in a combined programme which includes resource drilling and mining expertise will be provided by Vancouver-based mining company Teck Cominico. Stratex prompted a gold rush earlier this month after finding gold in Turkey completely by accident when a geologist stumbled over and noticed gold. The gold strike was similar to one in Peru called Yanacocha which had drawn over 1,000 tonnes of gold and so Turkey aroused much interest.
