NewWest produces Northumberland results

Tuesday, 21st November 2006 (2210 views)

NewWest Gold has made known the results of its drilling programme at its Northumberland project which is situated in Nye County, Nevada.

The phase one drilling work results came courtesy of NewWest's partner Newmont Mining and relate to 37 reverse circulation and core drill holes over an area in excess of 27,000 feet.

Significant mineralisation was found in the conceptual pit at Northumberland by holes NN-50 and NUN-75.

According to NewWest Gold, the programme had a four-pronged target, to test an anomaly at Ziggurat, to gain core samples relating to both waste rock and metallurgical analysis, to determine the mineralisation in hole NN-5 and finally, to see whether the pit would benefit from expansion.

Steve Alfers, president and CEO of NewWest, said: "We expect the results from drill holes NN-50 and NUN-75 to drive expansion of the Northumberland conceptual pit to the north.

"Offset hole NN-56 confirmed continuity of a lower zone of mineralisation, which could increase the depth of the conceptual pit and potentially expand our resource estimate at Northumberland."

Northumberland is NewWest's most advanced gold project and is located near to Barrick's and Kinross's Round Mountain gold mine.
