Avocet: our results are positiveWednesday, 22nd November 2006 (2241 views) Avocet Mining has been working in Indonesia of late and has just announced that the results there are positive. The company's Mangkaluku gold prospect is situated in South Sulawesi and three zones of gold have been detected during the trenching work. Jonathon Henry, chief executive officer at Avocet, said: "Our Mangkaluku project has tremendous gold potential. "It will accelerate our pipeline of projects towards pre-feasibility and add to our portfolio of high value projects in Indonesia." The company is also enjoying other successes in the same Sulawesi region as their Bakan gold mine is currently developed. The Sulawesi project is a gross roots exploration scheme and it aims to find new drilling targets within a known area of gold mineralisation. One highlight of Mangkaluku so far is a 36 metre stretch with a grade of 5.4 grams of gold per tonne plus another 13.4 metre length with 10.7 grams of gold per tonne. Recent studies point to gold mineralisation extending out of the predefined area.
