Gold deposit expands in British ColombiaThe news feeds on this site are independently provided by Adfero Limited © and do not represent the views or opinions of the World Gold Council. Tuesday, 19th December 2006 (3139 views) Seabridge Gold has announced that during the summer it did manage to expand its gold deposit in British Colombia.Known as the Kerr-Sulphurets project, a summer-long core drilling campaign was undertaken in 2006 to test potential strike and the depth of extensions over its 68.8 square kilometre range. The drill programme measured 9,129 metres in its entirety which included systematic drilling on the "promising" new Mitchell gold zone. Rudi Fronk, the chief executive officer at Seabridge, said: "These results are expected to expand the Sulphurets resource and they also point to the potential for additional mineralization which we intend to pursue in future programs." The project was originally deigned in the 1960s by Granduc Mines and was then taken over by Esso Minerals and Lancana/ Newhawk in the early 1990s. Seabridge took over the mine in 1991. Throughout 1999 to 2002, the firm concentrated on acquiring eight North American mines because the gold price was low. Now that these mines have been explored, Seabridge has rapidly expanded its gold base.
