Romarco Minerals is today "pleased" because it has announced the results from an initial channel sampling programme undertaken at Mexico's Pinos gold district.

This district has a historical background in gold mining and produced about 5 million ounces of gold plus much more silver years back.

These days it is being sampled with 46 complete and five samples pending results, all taken from the Castanava area using shafts that were already there and veins that have already been mined.

This area is just four per cent of the total area of the Pinos gold district which frequently experiences coarse free gold and the "nugget effect".

It was June 2006 when Romarco Minerals first entered into agreements for the Pinos gold district which is 3,000 hectares in total consisting of many multi-vein gold systems.

Pinos was first found by the Spaniards in 1546 and mined until 1810 when taken over by miners from Mexico.
