The extent of the epithermal vein system at Pacific Rim's Zamora gold project has been "greatly expanded" following the recent surface mapping and sampling work.

According to the mining company, the El Salvador based gold project has also witnessed the "bonanza" gold grade of 2.1 metres at 31.9 grams per tonne.

Tom Shrake, president and chief executive of Pacific Rim Mining, has spoken of his delight at receiving these latest results and he said that further exploration will take place in order to identify additional targets.

He added: "Though we are still early in our understanding of the details of the Zamora system, we are extremely pleased with the results generated there to date and look forward to continuing to map out this extremely large target."

The strike length of the Zamora epithermal vein system stretches for around 21 kilometres, says Pacific Rim and "high" gold grades have been encountered across the strike in its entirety.

Furthermore, the company has found similarities with its own El Dorado project which is located nearby.
