Top grades at Marathon

Thursday, 19th April 2007 (2265 views)

Marathon has announced 20 metres at a grade of 23.4 grams of gold per tonne at its Malachite mine.

The mine is located within the Southern Resources area in Ontario.

Phillip Walford, the president and chief executive officer of Marathon, said: "This fourth drill discovery of high-grade mineralisation is a remarkable development.

"This establishes positively that there are shoots of high-grade of mineralisation over a surface strike length of 1,000 meters and this has certainly validated both the drilling and exploration models developed by the exploration team."

Much of the area between the resources is ripe for exploration and the firm is confident that there is a high probability of finding even more high-grade gold.

The Marathon project consists of six Crown leases and 20 unpatented mining claim blocks covering almost 5,000 hectares. It is ten miles away from the town of the same name and very close to the Trans-Canada highway.
