Kalimantan begins Beruang Kanan drilling

Monday, 23rd April 2007 (2180 views)

Drilling work has begun at Kalimantan Gold's Beruang Kanan copper/gold project in Kalimantan, the firm has announced.

Beginning with Beruang Kanan, the drilling programme will then move to Mansur and Baroi and follows on from previous drilling and analysis work at the site which has identified these targets.

The Beruang prospect is made up of eight different mineralised zones and previous work at Beruang Kanan specifically has comprised of 19 diamond drill holes.

To date, a total of $1.5 million (£750,000) has been spent by Kalimantan Gold on exploration at the prospect and this has been made up of geological mapping, rock chip sampling and airborne geophysics, among other things.

At present, Beruang Kanan can be accessed though the company has stated that further infrastructure reconstruction work is necessary "to ensure this access is maintained".

In December last month, Kalimantan Gold announced that it had completed a deed option with Oxiana and both of these parties will embark upon the exploration work at the Beruang prospect.
