Aurora to begin Tapajos drilling

Friday, 27th April 2007 (2251 views)

Aurora Gold is ready to embark upon a diamond drill programme focussed at its Sao Joao property in the Tapajos gold province in the State of Para, Brazil.

The drilling will centre around "high-grade" rock chip samples that have previously been yielded from the property across various different vein systems.

"Outstanding" is the word used by Aurora Gold to describe the rock chip sampling results from the quartz veins and drilling work is intended to take place on the areas that have intersected high grades.

Commenting on the planned exploration, Aurora said: "It is believed that such a focused and staged approach will maximize drill meters and lead logically into feasibility studies given the success of the programme."

Becoming a gold producer is the firm's "vision" it has declared and in order to achieve this goal, Aurora Gold is hoping that the close proximity of Tapajos to another one of its properties, the Molly project, will help it in its target.

Meanwhile, the mining company has also announced that it has secured a private placement worth $2 million (£1 million).
