Production begins at Peru gold mine

Tuesday, 29th May 2007 (2320 views)

Operations have commenced at Gold Hawk's Coricancha Mine in Peru, the company has announced.

According to Gold Hawk, mill production rate is expected to reach a comprehensive level of 600 tonnes of ore per day in June.

Gold Hawk predicts that in 2007 it will now produce 11,000 ounces of payable gold. This figure was initially estimated at 15,000 ounces but has been amended following delays in the delivery of mining equipment.

According to Gold Hawk, the ore handling system has now been installed and is working correctly and new mining equipment is due to be received in July.

Gold Hawk also notes that its Biox circuit is now in operation and is flowing to the cyanidation circuit, where gold is adsorbed onto carbon, the initial results of which imply that performance is meeting designed gold recovery.

The company now predicts that the first full gold pour will happen in early June.
