Ethical jeweller creates new gold from oldWednesday, 20th June 2007 (3050 views) An online jeweller is looking to make gold more ethical by creating new designs from vintage materials.VerdeRocks uses vintage unused products to make new gold jewellery items, including a 16-inch 14 carat gold plated filigree heart pendant and several gold charm chains. Consumer guide The Daily Green notes that some estimates claim that there is enough unused gold jewellery and untouched gold in bank vaults to fuel the jewellery industry for another 50 years. "Since the beginning of mass production, around the turn of the century, jewellery manufacturers have had overruns and extras. Over the years, these jewellery parts were stored and often forgotten," VerdeRocks website claims. According to The Daily Green, such vintage gold could appeal to ethical consumers who wish to wear gold that has already been mined. VerdeRocks True Vintage collection is inspired by the Baroque, Art Deco and Art Nouveau eras and is crafted from un-opened lots of antique findings.
