Thursday, 21st June 2007 (2891 views) Exploration has begun at Kefi Minerals' Derinin Tepe prospect in the Western Anatolia region of Turkey, it has been announced.Kefi notes that it is currently targeting large epithermal gold or porphyry gold-copper systems akin to a number of recently discovered deposits containing over one million ounces of gold in the region. So far, sampling in the main quartz has returned up to 152 grammes of gold per tonne (g/t) while rock-chip sampling of the western quartz vein returned 3.3 g/t over six metres, two metres at 9.6 g/t and one metre measuring in at 7.2 g/t. "In addition to systematically progressing exploration on current prospects, our geologists are continuing to evaluate properties identified by [Kefi's] proprietary database for potential acquisition," commented managing director of Kefi Jeff Rayner. Mr Rayner added that the exploration work continues to confirm Derinin Tepe to be a candidate for low-sulphidation epithermal gold deposits.
