A handbag containing a gold-plated gun and gold bullet are featuring in a jewellery exhibition in Harvey Nichols.

The display was created by Dutch jeweller Ted Noten, it is comprised of a decommissioned gun placed within a transparent bag and is entitled Lady K.

Arranged by Jo Bloxham, the exotic jewellery collection is called Bite The Bullet and features hand-made art-jewellery from around the world, the Manchester Evening News reveals.

"I am sure there will be criticism. But people should remember that this gun cannot now harm anybody. What Noten has done is taken a gun off the streets and made it into art," Ms Bloxham told the newspaper.

Other gold creations of Mr Noten's include the Meatbag, a pork chop cast in acrylic with 18 carat gold leather handles and a necklace called After 21 Cups of Coffee-Necklace which features several pieces of porcelain tea cup attached to an 18-carat gold chain.
