Dublin-based gold exploration company Glencar Mining is confident that its Mali mine will be a producing mine following recent grading sample results, it has been reported.

The Independent, Ireland, reports that grading samples returned results of up to 733 grammes of gold per tonne in one bore hole.

Geochemistry at Glencar's Solona licence in southern Mali recently turned up a very strong anomalous zone and gold was encountered in eight out of thirteen drill-holes.

According to the Independent, at Glencar's annual general meeting in Dublin chairman Sean Finlay said the discovery of the deposit meant that "the fortunes of the company have changed very substantially over the past two years".

Drilling at the Komana West project in Mali is currently suspended until after the rainy season in October.

At present, metallurgic testing to determine the gold mineralisation characteristics is underway with preliminary environmental studies to be commissioned in the near future.
