Sutter Gold Mining has announced a drilling programme in Lincoln, California after "encouraging results" from 2006-07.

Hal Herron, chief executive officer of the mining corporation, said that an additional $700,000 (£350,000) investment will look to "advance the project by potentially increasing the Inferred Resource in a significant way".

A total of six surface drill holes and one deep exploratory hole are planned as part of the diamond project, which hopes to discover 300,000 tonnes of gold resource within the newly discovered mineralisation.

The surface project will total 2,100 metres and the deep exploratory hole is expected to be 600 metres.

Mr Herron, who is also president of Plateau Resources and Crested Corp, added that management expects that a pre-feasibility study and resource updates will be completed by July 2007.

Earlier this month, Sutter Gold Mining re-elected its board of directors and approved all items that were raised in the annual general meeting of its shareholders.
