Mineral exploration company Agnico-Eagle has discovered new gold zones at its Pinos Altos property, Mexico.

Agnico-Eagle's spring exploration property has returned significant gold intercepts near surface and at depth at Pinos Altos, including potentially ore-grade gold.

Gold mineralisation was intersected at the Creston Colorado and Mascota zones in the north-west quadrant of the Pinos Altos property.

Furthermore, the company reveals that numerous drill holes are continuing to intersect potentially ore-grade mineralisation over significant widths between the Santo Nino and Cerro Colorado zones.

"More than half of the company's exploration expenditures in 2007 (more than $40 million (£20 million)) ew! are expected to be in Mexico, with $26 million earmarked for the Pinos Altos property," Agnico-Eagle noted in a statement.

In other Agnico-Eagle news, the company has signed an option to acquire 100 per cent of the El Realito gold mining property in Sinaloa, Mexico.
