It markets itself as "fun, flirty, flashy and definitely rock 'n' roll" and, it has been reported, Femme Metale jewellery is becoming popular with celebrities.

The California-based company's jewellery ranges in price - with necklaces costing between $65 (£32) and $320 depending on the chain and pendant - and fine jewellery rings costing upward of $2,000.

According to Femme Metale, celebrities who have been spotted sporting the accessories include supermodel Kate Moss, Moss' former significant other and Pirates of the Caribbean star Johnny Depp, Canadian rock-chick Avril Lavigne and 'Dirrty' songstress Christina Aguilera.

"There's flexibility in how a customer would like a piece done. The customer can choose how many stones, what colour they want the stone and if they want pave diamonds. I can even have one cast in yellow gold," commented creator and designer Leslie Homan.

Ms Homan reveals that she uses reference books on Victorian art, pop-culture icons and music to inspire her designs.

The fine jewellery rings are made with 14-carat white gold and come in various shapes including skull and cross bone, pirate, burning heart and crown.
