Gold import status for RajeshFriday, 20th July 2007 (3197 views) Indian gold jewellery manufacturer and exporter Rajesh Exports has been named as a nominated agency for the import of gold for consumption in the country by the Indian government.The largest manufacturer of gold in India, Rajesh will now be able to import gold directly through itself to the rest of India - the world's largest consumer of the precious metal yellow. "With the company now being able to import gold directly, it would help tremendously in its retail foray. The company is aggressively expanding as an organised retailer of jewellery in India through its brands - Laabh Jewellers and Shubh Jewellers," the Business Standard reports Rajesh as saying. Until recently, only certain banks and public sector undertakings were given the status of nominated import agencies and gold imports are allowed only through nominated agencies. Rajesh is headquartered in Bangalore and claims to be the lowest cost gold jewellery producer in the world.
