A new ultra-premium vodka with a touch of gold is to be launched across the US, it has been announced.

Shaw-Ross is to release the Ultra-premium French Vodka Gold Flakes Supreme – made with 24-carat consumable gold flakes – to certain vodka markets in the country.

The gold vodka is bottled in France and quadruple-distilled, Shaw-Ross reveals.

"The shimmering flakes of edible gold that glitter magically in Gold Flakes Supreme's crafted quality bottle bring to life all of gold's most desirable associations and expectations," the company notes.

According to Shaw-Ross, such associations include the alchemical symbol of perfection, gold as a symbol of wealth and gold as an ancient emblem of respect.

The retail price of the flaked vodka is estimated at €60 (£40) per bottle.

In related news, Blue Nun recently released a limited "gold" edition sparkling wine with 22-carat gold leaf.
