Friday, 24th August 2007 (2832 views) A limited edition garden ornament made with 24-carat gold is said to be a tribute to the English orchard, it has been revealed. The Telegraph reports that David Undery's "Voice of Nature", is to be cast in a limited edition of ten items, retailing at £4,750. Voice of Nature is a five foot six inch sculpture made of a smooth shell-like ellipse on a bark-textured base. The shell is covered with 24-carat gold, which, Mr Undery claims is reflective of the piece's key philosophy of balance between man-made and natural elements. "For me it's as if the sculpture's golden ear listens sympathetically to its ambient sounds only to sing out silent notes in reply, reacting with its glorious situation," commented the artist. The telegraph notes that Mr Undery's "Paintings in Concrete" have been displayed at Chelsea Flower Show twice, once as part of Andy Sturgeon's gold-medal winning 2005 garden.
