2007 American Eagle gold coin sales suspendedThursday, 20th September 2007 (2754 views) Sales of some collectible 2007 American Eagle gold coins have been suspended until the end of September, coin collecting website Numismaster.com has reported. The US Mint has halted the sale of uncirculated American Eagles with the "W" mint mark on account of the rising price of gold on the international stock markets. Sales of the coin were stopped during the week of September 13th, when the sale price of the coin was barely higher than the price of gold bullion. According the US Mint, American Eagle uncirculated gold coins are hand-loaded into a coin press and are carefully examined by white-gloved inspectors before they are sealed in protective plastic capsules. Before the coin went off the market, a one-ounce 2007 uncirculated American Eagle gold coin was priced at $749.95 (£373.65) as ordered directly from the US Mint. It is expected that the sales will only be suspended for the short term, as the coins are expected to be re-priced and returned to the market by September 27th, according to the coin collection website.
