Jewels of India to be held in BangaloreTuesday, 25th September 2007 (3039 views) Bangalore is set to host a four-day jewellery and retail exhibition featuring handcrafted gold jewellery in October, India's Economic Times reported.The ninth annual Jewels of India exhibition and sale will begin on October 20th and will feature over 100 exhibitors from both India and abroad. Handcrafted and traditional gold jewellery from Kolkata and Tamil Nadu will be on display, along with modern gold jewellery from Italy and designer wares from Mumbai. The newspaper said that this year, the exhibit will take place in an air-conditioned hangar for the first time and will also feature an international pavilion with jewellery from Thailand. Last year, the Hindu, an Indian newspaper, reported that the Jewels of India exhibition, held at Bangalore's Sri Kanteerava Indoor Stadium, was attended by actress Shobhana, who led the publicity campaign for the event. Bangalore, nicknamed Fashion Capital of India and India's Silicon Valley, was founded in the 16th century and is currently home to over six million people.
