Initial assay results for a core drilling programme at the White Rock gold project have indicated that the grade of gold on the site may have been understated by its previous operator, according to Golden Odyssey Mining.

Core drill hole WRC-13, drilled to verify historical resource estimates on the site, yielded grades around 22 per cent higher than those recorded in its twinned reverse-circulation rotary hole, which could indicate that there is potential to make upgrades to the existing resource estimate for the site, the company said.

Golden Odyssey Mining is currently working to verify historic resource estimates made at the site in the 1980s with a core drilling programme, which it says provides a more accurate definition of higher-grade zones than reverse-circulation rotary drilling, which was previously used on the site.

When completed, the company hopes that the current drilling programme will provide enough information to assess the validity of previous estimates on the site.

Golden Odyssey's wholly-owned White Rock project is located around 110 miles north-east of Elko, Nevada.

According to the company website, it is currently working to expand and upgrade the gold resource on the site and has identified two new areas of mineralisation thus far.
